Philips Norelco 1250 Electric Shaver Review
Our comprehensive Phillips 1250 Electric Shaver review shows that Philips Norelco seems to be acknowledging the fact that we’re always on the move merely by the words they use to describe many of its functions.
No man likes to spend time trying to get as smooth a shave possible, and often times rushing the process leads to nasty razor cuts, that never seem to stop bleeding. There is no longer a need to partake in such grueling practices; the world of electric shavers has come a long, long way.
They all have something to do with movement. It has a GyroFlex 3D head pivoting system for facial contour flexibility, an UltraTrack cutting system for different length hairs, an AquaTec seal that lets you shave with or without gel or shaving cream, and a SkinGlide shaving surface for smooth contact against the skin.
Are all these active, dynamic phrases just part of an overall marketing gimmick? Well, that’s not likely, since words alone aren’t going to sell electric shavers. It really has to do a great job in order to be a successful seller. A coincidence, then? Well, probably not, since electric shavers are, ultimately, all about its moving parts.
Very Portable For Men On the Move
The Philips Norelco 1250, with its android-like head and sleek curvy design, does indeed pack a lot of movement into its 1.2 x 1.2 x 6.2 inch, 1.2 pound body. And since it’s cordless and can be used in transit, the whole ‘on-the-move’ character of the shaver gets even stronger.
Three-dimensional contouring, which is where the 3D in the name comes from, means that the blade heads on this shaver don’t stay still, but move constantly so that whatever shapes, curves and crevices there are on the shaving surface, the blades will be able to get to them on your face, neck or head, depending on just where you happen to be shaving. The 3D is part of a Philips Norelco system called GyroFlex, one of those action words which simply mean that three independent parts move separately, tilting and flexing as needed to match and reach those curves and crevices.
The next on-the-move word, UltraTrack, indicates the shaver’s three specialized tracks within its three rotary heads that are capable of catching every kind of hair in every kind of situation: there are holes for short hairs, tracks for long hairs, and channels for even longer hair. And then there’s Super Lift & Cut. That refers to the patented dual-blade system that’s part of the three rotary heads, and what it does is actually lift the hairs so that the blades can cut just below skin level. Can’t get much closer than that.
Sounds like that could sting. But it doesn’t. Philips Norelco included a low-friction SkinGlide surface over the rotary heads to guard against any kind of skin irritation.
What about AquaTec? Sounds like it’s about someone swimming. But it’s the shaver’s ability to be used effortlessly and very effectively with shaving cream or gel.
And for all its moving parts, there’s one plus that’s been noted by a more than a few users: it is very quiet. A quiet powerhouse. That’s the best kind.
What About Power And Usability?
Now that we’re done with all those action words, we can talk about its power. Yes, power is action, but it’s action of a different kind. The 1250 takes one-hour for the rechargeable lithium-ion battery to charge, and once it’s up to speed it will give you up to 50 minutes of shaving time. For some that’s about two weeks, for others, three, before you have to even thing about recharging. The shaver’s LED display tells you when you need to recharge.
Some additional accessories it comes with include:
- The charging stand
- A soft pouch for travel and storage
- A protective cap
- The power cord
- A cleaning brush
The Philips Norelco 1250 lists for $199.99 and can ordered through Amazon and several other online retailers, often at a discounted price.
What Are Customers Saying? Click Here For Unedited Reviews
“Simply put,” said one Amazon customer, “this is the best electric shaver I’ve ever owned! It’s quiet, fast, and cuts extremely close.”
“It fits perfectly in the hand and has a good feel to it,” said another on Amazon, which gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. “It feels like some thought was put into its design.”
Yes—that’s fairly obvious. A lot of thought went into its design and a lot of movement went into its construction. Between GyroFlex, UltraTrack, AquaTec and SkinGlide, Philips Norelco probably expects to sell many of its 1250 SensoTouch 3D Electric Shavers. And since it’s not the most expensive electric shaver in its class in the marketplace today (nor, by the way, is it the most sophisticated—though not everybody wants that), the company might very well indeed see a lot of the marketing movement it expects.
